How to install & create art with our brushes
PaintTool SAI 2:
A basic understanding of how to import SAI2 brush shapes, textures, BMPs, and bristles is essential. Below is a brief guide to help you know where to place each file.
🔴 IMPORTANT 🔴
Please follow these instructions carefully to ensure proper functionality:
- Navigate to your Documents folder.
- Go to Systemax Software Development → SAIv2 → settings.
🖌️ TEXTURES 🖌️
To use textures as brush shapes, textures, and layers, place them in the following folders:
- papertex
- blotmap
- brushtex
- brushform
- blotmap (I recommend this folder for brush shapes, as it works better than just using a texture alone).
🖌️ SCATTER BRUSHES 🖌️
Place your scatter brushes into the "Scatter" folder located here:
Documents → Systemax Software Development → SAIv2
Scatter Brush Shapes can also be added to Brushform → Brushshape.
🔴 IMPORTANT 🔴
Scatter brushes must also be placed in the !!!BRUSHSHAPE!!! folder for some brushes to function properly.
If you cannot find the scatter folder, it means you need to update your SAI2 to the latest version.
🖌️ BRISTLE FILES 🖌️
For bristle brushes, place them in the following folder:
Documents → Systemax Software Development → SAIv2 → settings → brushform → bristle settings → bristle
Once you've placed the files in the correct folders, restart SAI2 and you're ready to start drawing with your new brushes! <3
Some Handy Tips:
✨ TEXTURES ✨
- In the Brush Settings under Brush Shape, you can "invert" the texture. This is helpful for adjusting the texture to suit your artwork.
- Use the "Sharpen" setting to make the texture appear more crisp.
- Adjust the texture size to better fit your art.
✨ SCATTER ✨
- You can change the distance between brush shapes using the "Spacing" setting.
- Use "Scaling" to control the size of the shapes.
- Adjust the "Angle" to rotate the shapes (e.g., for upside-down spikes).
- Control the scattering behavior using the settings: All Directions and Gaussian.
✨ BRISTLES ✨
- You can adjust the thickness of a bristle with the HAIR setting.
Enjoy using your new brushes, and happy drawing!
